A LIVE WIRE

Honesty
Is a sweet cup of tea;
Open thoughts
Happiness
Kick back;
Just trying to live one day at a time
Is that a crime?
Taking it all
Backed into a wall
What’s the next call?
Allegations flying
Hotter than an egg frying;
What does one do
With a cold block of ice
You can’t even slice?
With frowns
It’s a shutdown;
When you regress
Your life becomes a mess;
What you lived twenty years prior
Becomes a live wire;
When you don’t let it go
It comes to life and begins to flow;
If the mindset continues
You will reside at the same venue;
Bounded
Logically hounded.

SOMEBODY

“You’re Nobody Til Somebody Loves You”
Really?
What kind of gibberish is that!?
A description
Sounding like someone
Who needs a self esteem prescription;
Have a seat and lend me your ear
Let me make this extremely clear;
“You are timeless
Extraordinary and priceless;
Your elegance and style
Shine like that captivating smile;”
You don’t need anyone’s approval
To heighten your morale;
You are definitely Somebody
The Nobody;
In my point of view
Is the one that refuses to take a chance on You!

THE MACY’S DAY PARADE

Why is society so focused on skin shade?
That’s a topic that’s exploded like a Macy’s Day Parade;
People are human beings
Please understand what you are seeing;
There’s something that I want to yell
“WE ALL DRINK FROM THE SAME WELL!”
Our physical heart
Is an inner part;
Of who we become
It’s a great reflection of your Dad and Mum;
Be a leader, don’t follow the crowd;
Shout.” EQUALITY!” out loud.

OPEN SEASON

Hiding in plain sight
In the dark and in the light;
Standing still
Have you prepared a Will?
Unaware
You’re the target out there;
Underworld organizations
Clueless expectations;
Men and women alike
Having reasons of their own to strike;
In a situation that’s rocky
All of a sudden smily and cocky;
Retracing your steps for authorities
Re-adjust your priorities;
You shared a picture and stated, “That’s the one!”
A man with a hand gun;
What do you think?
They’ve disappeared in an eye blink;
It will never fly
You won’t get by;
Excuses and lies
Faux tears cried;
You’re as transparent
As an abusive parent!
Whatever your purpose
The truth will always surface;
For silly reasons
It’s always open season.

A ONE WOMAN SHOW

My voice of reason
In every season;
A radiant smile
My baby girl child!
Determination spark
She follows through with an exclamation mark;
Possesses nothing ordinary
She’s an exceptional visionary;
Attempting to have all of her ducks in a row
A one woman show;
As real as a Susan B. Anthony Coin
She’s my little loving tenderloin;
During a seasonal quake
Standing firm in the route she takes;
She’s a Xerox copy of Papa Bear
Frightening, however a spot on compare;
An objective perspective
I will conclude
A fast and furious attitude
Of a rumbling ten point magnitude;
A lethal combo
When She’s home I know
Because I hear “Hello…?”

WHAT SIZE ARE YOUR PANTS?

Digits are used to tell your age
The Act number on a Broadway Stage;
The measurement of a dress
Whether a bra is an A,B, C or D breast;
Sequential order
The value of a quarter;
Big or tiny shoes
The mixture of hues;
Decade after decade
The time it takes to weave a braid;
The year of your birth
How many days you’ve been on this earth;
Numbers consist of many digit combinations
The count of how many boxes of raisins;
Zero to ten Pain Score measure
Money found in a buried treasure;
Numbers have great significance
What size are your pants?

A MOUNTAIN OF TRANQUILITY

If my Craft Studio could tell you my story
What would it be?
It would tell you that I have long silver locks
See them hanging on that box?
My artistic medium of preference are beads and rocks;
I’m an amateur artisan with a poetry vibe
It’s hard to describe;
I have become a mountain of tranquility
Stong, with plenty of stability
Overcoming much adversity
From every Peanut Gallery Committee;
Those two hanging portraits of tiny girls
Are my whole world;
A-1 and A-2
Their love engulfs me like the morning dew;
The nine foot mirror in the corner to the right
Keeps me looking tight;
That sewing machine
Is in my genes;
Mom always told me that I wasn’t smart enough to master the task
Now I’m sewing quilts, purses, scrubs, and masks!
I get to put on a different costume
In this room;
There is so much more to explore
It’s all about Me and my journey to restore.

ANATOMICAL RECEIVERS

We aren’t that nimble to walk a mile
Not so eager to smile
However, we sure do excellent with denial;
Like a one ear moose
Humans close their anatomical receivers to the truth;
No admission to your true weight
That’s not up for debate!
The Cheater Meter is blinking
We know you’ve been drinking;
In relationships
Roving eyes and lips
The heart wonders and skips;
Like being unprepared for that daily quiz
Why does one refuse to accept what is?

CLEAR QUARTZ AND ONYX

Blessings come in the hues of clear Quartz and solid Onyx
Whatever it may be it’s yours to accept and fix;
A blessing can become a human disappointment
It may be difficult to people connect
Not being what you want or expect;
You didn’t get that job you were counting on
Instead they gave it to an ex-con;
The cancelled Cruise
The wrong Lotto numbers you choose;
Missing that yearly RV getaway
A spouse that betrays;
A deceased loved one
When your life has just begun;
The guy you like shows you no affection
Believe it or not, it’s for your own protection;
A miscarriage that you didn’t want to occur
Health issues that result in a speech slur;
Life is full of uplifting moments
A spirit of changing events;
There will be times we feel a gut punch
Or a financial crunch;
On the job you may get a praise
Along with a money raise;
Even though we complain about what we lack
The Creator always has our back;
The Universe is full of good and bad
Happy and sad;
Some have their doubts
However, our lives are predestined and mapped out;
No matter the case
Carry a smile on your face;
To be a believer
Is to be an achiever!

NOT EVEN A WARNING SIGN

How do you deal
With what life steals?
A gun
A hit and run
An aged loved one;
A heart torn
From birthing a stillborn;
Dementia and unexpected disease
The Spectrum breeze
Will drop you to your knees;
Life cannot only be stolen by death
But what lacks with every breath;
Cerebral Palsy
Autism
Babies who need hearing aids to listen;
Brittle bones
Life’s many syndromes;
Eyes that were born defective
Something that can’t be corrected;
A tumor of active cancer
Only God will comfort and have the answers;
No reason or rhyme
Not even a warning sign.
